During the LHC operation, visits are possible to the surface installations at Point 2 (The ALICE permanent exhibition and the Run Control Centre). Underground visits are possible during the shutdown. For more information, we invite you to have a look at the following pages :

ALICE Potential for new Physics in pp collisions at LHC Dansk Fysisk Selskab 2008, P. Christiansen (Lund) 20 Summary ALICE will be ready with the ITS, TPC, TOF and many other detector systems for the first pp collisions at LHC this year The startup period of LHC is ideal for ALICE because of the lower luminosity which the TPC can handle ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) is a general-purpose, heavy-ion detector at the CERN LHC which focuses on QCD, the strong-interaction sector of the Standard Model. It is designed to address the physics of strongly interacting matter and the quark-gluon plasma at extreme values of energy density and temperature in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The ALICE Experiment at CERN is about to achieve a major milestone with the completion of the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) upgrade, after many years of inte LHC SPS PS AD ISOLDE Facility ALICE - A Large Ion Collider Experiment. Synonym: Research programme: LHC. Approved: 06-02-1997.

ALICE is also studying proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions both as a comparison with nucleus-nucleus collisions and in their own right. In 2021 ALICE is completing a significant upgrade of its detectors to further enhance its capabilities and continue its scientific journey at the LHC for many years to come.

The first ten years were spent on design and an extensive R&D effort. ALICE recorded the very first proton collisions provided by the LHC in November 2009. During the LHC Run 1 (2009-2013), ALICE participated in all data-taking campaigns, recording proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 0.9, 2.76, 7 and 8 TeV, proton-lead collisions at 5 TeV and lead-lead collisions at 2.76 TeV.

Avhandling: Identifying charged hadrons on the relativistic rise using the ALICE TPC at LHC.

17 … Observing rare phenomena requires very large data samples, which is why ALICE is looking forward to the increased luminosity provided by the LHC in the coming years.

Electrons from heavy- flavor semileptonic decays in proton-proton collisions at √s=13 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC. Master-uppsats, Lunds

Matchdags. Färjestad–LHC. The ALICE Experiment (see figure) at LHC at CERN is designed to study collisions between Heavy nuclei at extremely high energy, a new state of matter named Quark Gluon Plasma is created where protons and neutrons do not exist but their constituents, quarks and gluons form a large volume system like in the first millionth of a second of the Big Bang.
